She was... alive.
After dying so suddenly, too soon, Pyrrha Nikos had found herself alive. It was more than disorienting for her. Pyrrha had long since given up the possibility of a normal life, no, that happened when she had become so famous it was difficult to make friends, but she had given up on living when Ozpin and the rest of the adults had told her what would happen should she allow Amber's soul to bind to her own. There was the possibility of hers being erased, of being smothered within her own body, never to surface again. It would be for the good of Remnant, though, and when hell arrived at Vale's doorstep, there was little choice to be had. She had to become the Fall Maiden.
In an act of foresight she knew she couldn't tell the rest of her team about what was asked of her, let alone say goodbye to them. She had recorded goodbye videos for each of them, to be sent after the tournament was over, as well as a training video for Jaune. It was easier that way, and she figured that if she never discovered the portal back to Remnant she would likely never see them again.
So even though she was alive, the outcome was the same.
Apparently most were supposed to be able to tell which portal in the Asphodel Meadows would bring them home, but Pyrrha had somehow lost the connection to Remnant after her death. It was rare but not unheard of, and unfortunately for her that meant trying each one in the hopes that it would bring her home. After many fruitless attempts she had given up for the day, but rather than returning to Elysium, she decided to explore the Underworld. It was here that remnants of universes destroyed by the gods were pieced together in a dark, hellish existence. It was not so much that she was morbidly curious rather than she wanted to know what exactly it was she was fighting for. The young Huntress had been recruited with the Heralds which she most eagerly joined, but she did at least want to be aware of what she was getting into. She wouldn't make that mistake twice.
It was admittedly difficult to see with some sort of torch after a while, and Pyrrha knew she needed to draw back from her exploration. Her javelin was in her right hand and her shield on her left arm, both miraculously returned to her after both were broken like she was. Emerald eyes glanced back in the direction of the entrance-- someone else was here.
"Hello?" Pyrrha called out, her voice cautious but tone still friendly.
