There had been so many things left unsaid, so many things left undone. So when he had woken to the soft, mechanical whirring of the world around him, Goro had been afraid. He had been so ready to accept death as it was handed to him, after so long he was ready to embrace the dark peacefulness that it had to offer, only end up awake and confused once more. The alien world, Elysium as it was called, had both confused and excited him. Despite all his past deeds, the Gods still decided to take pity on him and give him a second chance.
For so long he had believed himself to be irredeemable, having lied, cheated, and betrayed those that put their trust wholly and completely in him. Goro had even chased off the only person capable of accepting him, ending up putting a bullet in his head the moment he got the chance. So the reasoning behind the Gods of this land bringing him back was far beyond him, but he wasn't going to look at a gift and ask why. It didn't help stop himself from hiding however, Goro had already discovered the portal that would take him back home if he desired it enough. Yet he found himself hesitating, it was his given gift to return back to Japan and yet, there was a large amount of regret.
Letting the general public remain ignorant, and to continue thinking he had indeed perished back in his father's palace was perhaps for the best.
While adjusting to the new life he had been given, it still felt strange. Goro Akechi was supposed to be dead, even the boy himself knew that, so with each clean breath of air he took the feeling was even more stranger. It was even more weird when a calm stroll through the ancient debris of a once forgotten civilization took a turn for the worse. Goro saw him, in all his pragmatic beauty. Curly hair, rounded frames, lanky gait-- Goro felt the breath stolen from his lungs as he tried to process just why Akira Kurusu was here. The brunet grabbed his chest, feeling as if the floor beneath him had suddenly disappeared.
"No..."
He turned around just as the other boy had caught wind of his presence, already wanting to flee from the situation. No, no, no, he's supposed to think I'm dead! It's for the best after all, right?! To his utter horror, his feet stumbled underneath him and with a pathetic yelp, Goro had fallen to the floor.
