Stars. They shone in the night, some brighter, some less bright. Mayuri loved watching them. To her, they represented the loved ones humans lost, who were still watching them from above. Mayuri knew that her grandmother was up there, too, watching over her. The thought eased her grief of losing her grandmother, so Mayuri embraced it.

The stars seemed tranquil this night, though, and dimmer. This worried Mayuri, because to her, it meant that those watching were disappointed in humanity. Mayuri couldn't deny that most people were selfish, putting their own interest ahead of the needs of others. But there were also good people, full and kindness and empathy for others. Mayuri tried her best to help others, even those she didn't personally know.

So why then did the world try to punish her? And it did. It chose her as the target of multiple deaths, all of them different in nature. Maybe whatever force was behind it simply wanted to pull her out of this world, to prevent her from being corrupted in the future. Mayuri wished this theory was true, but she was still uncertain.
