ANN TAKAMAKI
17 FEMALE SHE/HER BISEXUAL HUMAN NEUTRAL |
PERSONALITY Ann is trustworthy and loyal, going to the ends of the Earth for her friends and teammates without looking back. Although she can be a bit air-headed at times, naive and even foolish, she takes it all in stride-- always attempting to better herself. She makes lemonade from lemons and uses what angers her the most as a catalyst to motivate her: whether that's her modeling career or being in the Phantom Thieves. Ann is selfless and strong as well, though she doesn't always see that inside of her. Because of this she constantly strives to be better, stronger, and the best friend she possibly can be to Shioh (as well as her teammates). Despite being bullied for so long by her classmates for reasons and circumstances she couldn't help, when they turned around and asked Ann for help instead, she gladly did so without a second thought; only a moments hesitation in disbelief that they were treating her with such respect and kindness. Ann truly does try her best as a Phantom Thief and, later, a model. Although she was only casual about the latter, a fateful and manipulative meeting with Mika caused her to nearly lose her part-time modeling job. Instead of letting this get her down, Ann simply tried harder, working out, resisting the temptations of sweets... sometimes, and trying to put more of her heart into each photo shoot that she was called for-- substitute or not. Despite her kindness and tolerance for others, Ann has no mercy for those with distorted hearts, cutting down shadows like she was born to do so. With her physical and emotional strength Ann overcomes many obstacles: from braving her perverse teacher Kamoshida, to taking down the God that was the culmination of human desires. She loves and cherishes her friends and helps them however she can, but... that doesn't mean she isn't willing to trade a few blows if they're acting up. Ann is headstrong, fierce, and easily moved to tears: but all of these qualities is what makes her, her. |

HISTORY Ann is, when it boils down to it, just an everyday teenage girl that likes shopping, hanging out with her friends, and bringing justice to CEO's and politicians. By day she studies (almost) diligently, eats as many sweets as she can, and partakes in her part-time modeling job-turned competition. By night she dons the mask of Panther, jumping from ledge to ledge and taking down Shadows with the crack of her whip, or with a command to her persona, Carmen. Before she was a Phantom Thief, Ann Takamaki was greatly disliked by her peers. Because of her half-European descent leaving her with blonde hair and blue eyes, most people in Shujin High tacked the label of 'flashy' on her without a second thought. The one girl who didn't, Shioh, became her best friend soon thereafter. With the two of them together, Ann could withstand the bullying from her peers and the sexual harassment from her gym teacher Kamoshida, and Shioh could withstand the physical and emotional abuse that being on the volleyball team pushed on her by the same teacher. It was when Akira entered the picture that Ann's life and view took a turn. Being sexualized by her teacher wasn't the worst part-- the compliance with Kamoshida's skeezy ways was continued for the benefit of her best friend Shioh. If Ann didn't continue her relationship with the teacher, her friend would lose her spot on the front line of the team as well as her chance for a scholarship. Kamoshida had both girls, as well as the school, under his finger... Until the Metaverse was discovered by Ann, Ryuji and Akira. Fighting through Kamoshida's palace with Morgana, a strange cat-like creature, they were able to take Kamoshida's 'treasure' or the object that was the catalyst for his distorted heart. Unfortunately before it could be changed, Shioh had reached her limit, and unsuccessfully attempted suicide, an immense shock for Ann. With her friend alive but comatose, Ann blamed herself for being too weak to help her best friend, the only girl who had helped her. Guilt was a blanket that weighed Ann down, but she wouldn't let it take her over. Turning her doubt and anger and rebellion into action, Ann became Panther, summoned her Persona Carmen, and joined the fight to better Shujin Academy. With this the Phantom Thieves of Hearts was born, Kamoshida confessed to his sins, and the school was freed from his shackles. With the gain of confidence that Ann received by changing the heart of her predator, her confidence began to grow. Rumors of her being in a relationship with Kamoshida were dismissed in turn for the truth, and people began to see her in a different light. She visited her best friend in the hospital as often as she could, helping Shioh through grueling hours of physical therapy so her best friend could walk again. Seeing Shioh's strength, Ann was determined to show the other that she too was strong, and knew this would help Shioh in her rehabilitation. During all this, she also nursed her modeling career, which wasn't something she took seriously until a young woman named Mika came along. Mika was manipulative, claiming initially to be Ann's number one fan, but as soon as Ann turned to a negative or disbelieving tone, began to wail and cry loudly as a show to the producers. With them thinking Ann was causing trouble, they began to lessen the amount of jobs she would model for. Still, she was determined to take modeling more seriously, which in turn would give her the strength and resilience to help Shioh, and the Phantom Thieves. Putting her heart and body into training, Ann was able to help the thieves defeat Madarame, Kaneshiro and Okumura, gaining friends and fellow thieves in the process: Futaba, Makoto, Haru and Yusuke. With the rise and fall of fame, Ann remained true to her own justice: helping those who were weak by defeating the ones that were oppressing them. This was tested, however, with the addition of Goro Akechi, an ace detective that joined their group with a deal: after they stole Sae Nijima's heart, the Phantom Thieves would disband permanently. Shuffling between her three roles, Ann gained her own inner strength, enough to truly help those who needed it while under the guise of Panther, and with her friends took down Akechi and Shido, the duo that was causing the mental breakdowns that were scattered during the months and blamed on them. This hadn't cleaned the Phantom Thieves names, and so the group set out to change the heart of the public, in the process digging to the very bottom of Mementos and taking down a literal God. While being Panther after school was certainly something only Ann could brag about-- she never did. While the rise in popularity of the Phantom Thieves excited her, she never strayed from their true objective, nor was her opinion swayed by the opinions of the Phansite's poll. Instead she trusted her friends and their rule of a mutual consensus on targets, leading them to their eventual victory. Shioh recovered, much to Ann's delight, but had chosen to move to a different school to avoid the stress Shujin posed. In the end, Ann Takamaki ended up saving the whole of Japan, and even the world, with the help of her best friends. |
