[PERSONA 5 SPOILERS, AS WELL AS POTENTIALLY TRIGGERING CONTENT.]












Akira was returning home when he saw a young woman being harassed by an older man. He walked over and separated the man from the woman, causing him to fall and hit his head. He threatened Akira, then got him arrested. 

Arriving in Tokyo after that fateful day, Akira meets Sojiro Sakura, his new caretaker. He is shown his new school and is given a room in the attic of Leblanc, the coffee shop Sojiro owns.

He meets Ryuji Sakamoto on his way to school, and they end up being thrown into the Metaverse. Akira and Ryuji explore the metaverse, leaving Akira to eventually awaken to his persona.

They meet Kamoshida, a teacher at the school who has been sexually and physically abusing students. Ryuji and Akira agree to take him down. In the process, they meet Morgana, who helps them get through the palace. Ryuji awakens to his persona at that point.

Finally, Ann Takamaki joins them, awakening to her persona as well. They encounter Kamoshida, and fight him-- taking his treasure and eventually making him apologize for his actions.

They finally call themselves The Phantom Thieves.

They meet Yusuke after defeating Kamoshida, learning about Madarame and how he mistreats his students. Akira and the others decide to target Madarame, with Yusuke's help. Once they defeat Madarame and he confesses, they move onto their next target: A mafia boss named Kaneshiro.

There they meet Makoto, who joins their team to help defeat Kaneshiro. The Phantom Thieves make Kaneshiro confess. Finally making a name for themselves.

Days later, they get a request from someone called "Alibaba" who says they can help them get around the threat from Medjed. The thieves soon find out that "Alibaba" is a girl named Futaba, who they soon realize that they'll need to steal her heart.

After stealing Futaba's heart and they join the party, Akira and the other thieves head onto their next target: Okumura. However, they are faced with a problem. Morgana parts ways with the thieves, leaving them helpless.

They infiltrate Okumura's palace anyway, finding Morgana and another person. The person turns out to be Haru, Okumura's daughter. She becomes acquainted with the Phantom Thieves, and they steal Okumura's heart together.

But, things go wrong. Instead of Okumura confession, he has a breakdown on TV and ends up dying. The thieves are at a loss for what to do, and their reputation goes down the drain.

At the day of the festival at their school, Goro Akechi ends up coming and doing an interview with Makoto; but they are told to meet up with him. There, Goro tells them that he knows they're the Phantom Thieves. He offers to join them.

They infiltrate Sae's, Makoto's sister's, palace, with Goro as a temporary party member. They take her heart, but Akira gets captured.

After being asked questions by Sae, Akira is confronted by Goro, who shoots him in the head, and makes it so it looks like Akira killed himself.

However.

It had been a trick; Goro was tricked to think that Akira had died, when he had not. Instead, he had shot the metaverse cognition of Akira.

Forced back into regular procedures, the Phantom Thieves decide to take down Shido, a corrupt politician. They find his palace, a giant cruise boat. They infiltrate the palace, and stumble upon one person they never expected to.

Goro Akechi.

They fight Goro, who ends up sacrificing himself for the team. Akira is shocked by this; as is the rest of the team. They set out to fight one person who cause all of this: Shido.

Akira is a very sarcastic person, he makes jokes whenever he can. He is a very forgiving person, and rarely gets angry. When Goro had betrayed the team, Akira wasn't angry, he forgave Goro and only wanted the best for him. He only wants the best for his whole team, as he cares for them.

Akira is a very kind soul, and only wants to be caring and helpful to others. He loves people, and loves his friends. If he has a chance to help someone, he will.
