From birth, it was decided that Yu was destined for 'greatness', but until the age of sixteen, he thought it would always be the most mundane kind of greatness possible. His parents held no ill intentions for him, however growing up he lacked any emotional connection to them or, unfortunately, anyone else either. His mother & father were more concerned with themselves and each other than Yu for the most part, constantly moving around for their careers or sight seeing without him. They fed him and smiled at him and patted his head all well as a parent should, but at the end of the day, Yu grew up to know such gestures were empty. In truth, they must have regretted his birth, and felt as though he brought their youth to an end unnecessarily. They just never said it.

This all changed when they finally decided he was old enough to live a year with his uncle while they worked aboard. At first, Yu thought it would be a disaster. But when he moved to Inaba, it ended up being the most exciting and emotional year of his life. There were many hardships, but in those he formed what he considers to be life long friends: the group that would come to be known as the investigation team among themselves.

They learned of a different world within TVs. Shadows were faced, personas were gained, and finally...a criminal was apprehended. Oh, and the ending of humanity was stopped by them, too. Just the normal 'hero's journey' stuff. Except, soon after, as time passed...things began to blur together, and the world went white, replaced with a new one entirely. One that was certainly without his friends and his family - that is, his uncle and niece - that he had come to love...
