As a young child, Yuuri has always been into figure skating-- he started when he first found out about Victor Nikiforov, a famous figure skater whom he idolized. Yuuri started figure skating at a young age, making him excel at the sport. His friends and family always supported him, watching him as he rose to the top.

However, at his first grand prix final, he bombed it completely due to the loss of his pet dog, Vicchan. He went to the banquet with a broken heart-- but ended up getting drunk and dancing with multiple skaters: Yuri Plisetsky, Christophe Giacometti, and finally, Victor Nikiforov. He headed home with no memory of that night.

Coming back to Hasetsu, his hometown in Japan, he is greeted by his family and friends. He tries to get out of his depression by skating something he's practiced for awhile: Victor's free skate. Without knowing, his friend's daughters record his rendition of Victor's free skate, which changes his life.

Victor shows up at the hot springs resort his family owns, greeting him. They end up becoming coach and student, and their bond deepens throughout their journey, eventually becoming lovers.

After the figure skating events, Yuuri finds himself at the grand prix final. He and Victor go out to see Barcelona, where Yuuri proposes to Victor. Now as fiances, Yuuri goes with Victor into his "final" grand prix final.

He wins the grand prix final with a silver, after a world record breaking performance with his free skate, Yuri on Ice. Yuuri decides that he would continue in his journey as a figure skater, with Victor staying as his coach.

Yuuri is dedicated to what he is interested in, though his anxiety may get the best of him sometimes-- he is a loving person, however. Yuuri may find it hard to believe in himself, thinking that he's weak and not worth the time, but he knows that people love him and he knows that no matter what, Victor and his friends will be there for him.

Yuuri loves figure skating with a passion, and he loves the friends he's made, and he loves his fiance Victor, most of all.
