MALE | 17 | THE NEUTRAL FACTION | DEMIROMANTIC
The illegitimate son of Shido Masayoshi and an unnamed woman, Goro Akechi grew up not really understanding the true meaning of having a home. He was abused and taken advantage of by the adults all around him, manipulated by his own father into becoming the perfect killing machine, only to be thrown away the moment he showed a tiny sliver of hesitation. Goro has severe self-worth issues but does not talk about them, squashing them away instead of tackling them head on. He was the one to stumble upon his mother's corpse after she had recently committed suicide, which has very obviously scarred him, and for the past three years he has been emotionally and mentally abused by his father. Because of his upbringing Goro believes himself to be an unwanted child, and a despicable person.
Goro views everyone and everything as scum, including himself. Because of this he does not have much regard for his personal safety, and believes if he dies then he dies.
Before he had woken in Elysium, he had sacrificed himself for the Phantom Thieves, and he is currently unaware of the fate of those who called him their friend.

FRIENDS:
Despite his friendly exterior, it is quite difficult to become 'friends' with him. Due to possessing a warped sense of justice, Goro had stuffed his own feelings down deep inside the recesses of his own heart in order to achieve his goals. While it may be hard to be friends with him, it is not near impossible. Before his untimely demise, the Phantom Thieves had unraveled the chains that kept him from breaking free. He despises adults with too much power, does not care for political strife. However since he has been brought back to life thanks(?) to the divine powers of the Gods, Goro believes this to be a second chance to do what he had not. Goro desires a healthy balance between control and pure order, and although he may come off as pompous and full of himself, it's all a ruse to hide a lonely child with a tainted heart.
Because he is not the most stable of individuals it may be hard to connect with him. Goro possesses many masks that he uses to protect himself, and the only one capable of ridding him of the masks he wears was Akira Kurusu.
Really all depends on the person! If one is persistent enough, they can break through the mask that he has sewn onto himself.

ENEMIES:
In his universe Goro has most definitely created more enemies than friends. Before his death, Goro viewed anyone that would get in the way of his own personal justice as a enemy. He feels it to be safer to have enemies rather than friends, because enemies can only hurt you physically whereas friends can betray one emotionally. If you think your character would not get along with him, please let me know! I love giving him enemies.
LOVERS:
Because of his fragile mental state, romance is the least thing on his mind. Goro has a hard time believing anyone would want to spend time around him even as friends, so if someone was romantically interested in him he'd be dense. While I do have ships for Goro personally, I don't think he's up for romance right now! (I mean c'mon, he's just a kid.)
HEADCANONS:
Goro is aroflux, not ever having the time to think about romance or his sexuality, but he definitely leans more on the side of homosexual. However because of his image Goro had to hide even the small desires he had, believing he needed to be seen as a pure and innocent individual, not quite in the reach of his fanbase (which is mostly based by teenaged girls, and the few occasional older women.).
His mother was physically and emotionally abusive towards him when he was but a small child. She would constantly blame him for her life's troubles. Goro and his mother lived in a one room apartment that didn't even have a washroom. His mother often claimed that his birth was the sole source of her misfortune, the reason why she could not get a job or a lover, and the people that she did bring home would often abandon her the moment they saw him. In the months of her life she had turned to alcohol and would often act promiscuous and bring home men to flirt and sleep with, all while Goro slept in the same room.
She eventually did kill herself, and Goro was the one to discover her body hanging by their ceiling light. He did not cry.
Because he was physically abused Goro has a form of haphephobia, the fear of being touched. He prefers to wear clothes that cover his entire being, dreading showing any skin because skin-on-skin contact terrifies him. Goro also has PTSD but doesn't quite understand that yet, and suffers from nightmares and often forgoes sleeping entirely to avoid experiencing night terrors. The boy's bloodstream is probably 97% coffee.
Goro displays moments of histronicism in which he desperately craves the attention of other people to the point where he will act overly charming and worry over his physical appearance to seem attractive to other people so that they will want him around. He often acts on impulse, only having a few longterm plans but with no idea of what to do afterwards. Goro becomes stressed when other's do not approve of him, feeling his self-worth plummet greatly at any negative review of himself.
While Shido has not physically harmed Goro in any way, Shido's abuse runs more deep in his psyche than his mother's physical touch. His father, while not at first, had only seen him as a pawn. A perfect puppet to use and abuse, tossing him away when he showed hesitation towards his plans. It was completely clear to Goro that Shido did not care about him, though it did not bother him that much. What had bothered him was the complete lack of concern over his mother's death, igniting a fire in him that could not be put out until Shido paid for what he'd done.
