Meet MAKOTO NIIJIMA, the younger sister of the incredibly successful prosecutor Sae Niijima. Makoto feels like she lives in the shadow of her sister in addition to feeling the pressure of adults around her to be perfect, quiet, and do as they ask. She is done being nice, done being a pawn, and has joined up with the Phantom Thieves of Hearts to bring about a change and true justice in the world. Out of rebellion and not wanting to be used as a pawn any longer, she instead joined up with the Neutral Faction rather than the Heralds of Light. Despite this, she has a strong sense of justice and an urge to do what's right-- she lives by what her deceased father, a police officer would do.
She is still figuring out what she wants to do with her life-- Makoto is seriously considering becoming a police commissioner, but now with the Multiverse at her fingertips, the possibilities are endless.

Makoto is socially awkward, and her pragmatic and nosy attitude can come off as quite haughty, driving people away. She is also a little bad at being on the up-and-up with the interests of her peers. That said, she is well-respected as the student council president of Shujin Academy, and does her best to get to know her student body. The same goes for strangers-- she is friendly and cordial to them.

Underneath Makoto's intelligence and apparent calmness exists a fierce temper. She is actually quick to irritate, and cannot stand to see bullies, particularly if said bullies are adults. No longer should be run by a cruel generation. Additionally, anyone who would attempt to trick her or her friends she would consider a rival, as she thinks of herself as the group strategist.

I headcanon that Makoto is asexual biromantic with a preference for women. That being said I am open to plotting, but in her own words in-game she is not good at being a bubbly girlfriend. This is something that would take time and patience, as well as a lot of charm from the other party.
