BEATRICE
1000, PHYSICALLY 19 FEMALE SHE/HER PANSEXUAL DEMIROMANTIC WITCH HARBINGERS OF DARKNESS |
"People are riddles. They want someone else to solve their riddle. They live life wanting someone to solve the riddle that they are, the most difficult riddle in the world." SPOILERS FOR UMINEKO NO NAKU KORO NI. You were originally born of trickery, of deceit, but it was meant to be harmless. You were the ghost of Rokkenjima, and you were responsible for misplaced keys, for broken glasses, for the wind that whispered through the hallways of the mansion due to a forgotten unlocked window. You were happier then and your existence was far simpler than what it is now, what it would be. The beginning of the end began when he left to never return despite the promise made to them. The pain of broken, empty words was far too much to bear, so the burden was put onto you. It felt like a thousand years of torture, a thousand years of pain. It twists you and rage bubbles and broils within you. You envy those that achieve love and happiness. Furniture can't achieve such. Who would ever love them? Who would ever love a witch? You prepare games for his arrival, knowing that one day he would return, he had to, you gambled on it. With Endless Magic and a scorn to rival all you begin your game. It is gorey and gruesome, and although he screams and weeps for his family you know that he enjoys a good mystery. He will come around eventually. You play your game until he is the last one left, and your laughter echoes and reverberates around the hall, and then it's over. You of course anticipate his outburst during the tea party, for him to say magic isn't real. Of course Battler would say things like that. He did always love to wound you, didn't he? The two of you bicker and banter until you reach an agreement: if he can prove magic isn't real, you will sleep for all eternity. The truth is you want to, but it's not that you want him to prove magic isn't real. No, you want him to discover the truth that is you, the truth that is your heart and all that is lays bare. Of course this is him you're talking about, and he's as obtuse and daft as ever, so it takes a while. Your second game with him is rough, he's just learning the ropes, how to navigate and tiptoe around a witch's qualms. You provide him hints, the Red Truth. You mention that your games follow traditional mystery rules, but this is not in red, so he ignores you. Stupid, stupid Battler. He loses that game. Pitifully so. You punish him accordingly and begin anew. Your game has attracted the attention of other witches and this further complicates things, they are here for a spectacle but you do truly want to lose. Losing would mean that he understood. You seem to be in no danger of that though and go easier on him, deceitfully tricking him with smiles and laughter and crocodile tears. The North Wind and the Sun is perhaps the greatest fun you've had yet, because you can see that you can make him to care about you, like you. You know this isn't real though, and he still doesn't understand. You reveal your trick. He feels betrayed, but you can see in his eyes that he wanted that you to be real. Perhaps one day she would be, but he had to see the truth first. You once again begin anew. Your fourth game is similar to the others except for one difference: you are growing quite tired. You give him every hint you can, you've provided more than enough evidence for him to reach your heart, and yet Ushiromiya Battler focuses on denying magic more than solving the riddle that is you. You give him one final test. "Come, try to remember. Remember, confess and repent your sin of six years ago! That is... the test I give you." Admit to your sin, you ask him boldly, standing in the rain on the roof looking down at him. Sin? He does not know what you are referring to. Now it is you that feels betrayed. He missed the entire point of these games, was nowhere close to understanding the being behind the witch. You decide that this is the end to your games. You give up. After tricking him into ending it for you, you are goaded into returning to complete it from a number of people-- but it is his sister that drives the both of you to finish what you started. You hold your battle among the roses after he slings theory after theory at you-- you swear if you by some miracle end up living you'll remind him about those stupid fucking small bombs every day of his infernal life. He gets close to the truth, unbearably so, but still misses the mark. By this point, though, you are tired of refuting him, tired of being eternally disappointed. You let the stakes of blue truth pierce you as he tears through your games, and you give him one last riddle. You lay your heart out plainly and ask him: "Who... am I?" The murders matter not. If he can solve this you would be at peace, and the witch could slumber for all eternity. You become catatonic as he starts the next game. Lambdadelta takes over your board but you do not care. You have given up unless he manages to solve your heart, your last riddle. The new game that isn't yours but is so like it takes longer than anticipated, but by the end you have gained the strength to walk again, and you find him pierced by a sword into the ground, not unlike how he did to you with the stakes of truth. Battler had given up. So you had no reason to continue your existence. You fade away to ash and a broken butterfly's wings before he awakens with the answer. For you, this was meant to be the end, and yet you find yourself called back to existence, a robust, fully-fledged existence, not the catatonic state you were in previously. The God of Dark wants your services. You reply that you are done with games, with trickery and deceit. You are not interested. They offer you something irresistible though, hinting that he might have gained the answer while you slumbered. This catches your interest. You suppose that you can cause a little mayhem, it always draws Ushiromiya Battler like a moth to a flame. This time, you will have your answer, for you are Beatrice the Golden and Endless Witch, and you want nothing more than to be understood so that you may finally and peacefully rest. |
Abilities:
- the ability to make Battler cry like a big weenie baby
- Game Master: As a Game Master, Beatrice could essentially play as an omniscient God on Rokkenjima and move the pieces and players by her will to create a fantastical tale of a witch continually murdering them over and over and over. Her games have a specific set of rules she does not state, and she herself also personifies those rules. By being a Game Master she knows all truths of the board, and can use the following—
- Endless Magic: Beatrice has the power of Endless Magic, which means she can recreate the cycle of life and death endlessly. For example if a Finite witch pieces an object together, or resurrects a person, they have resurrected a “memory” and the person or object will only stay alive/in the state wanted for a little while until fate intervenes and the person dies/object breaks again. Beatrice will be able to keep them resurrected— however instead of using her powers for happiness, she prefers death and destruction so long as she has a motive for it. She’s a territory witch, so her powers are at their strongest on Rokkenjima, although the temporal distortions the gods have created have allowed her to use them across the Multiverse should she so choose.
She has additional powers at her behest as a witch as well, including:
Since Beatrice doesn’t typically fight close combat, preferring to act as a trickster, her battles come from riddles themselves. She will typically will shoot wedges of Red or Blue Truth from a further distance, or will summon anything mentioned above. However she does carry around with her a golden kiseru which she uses as a sort of wand from time to time, but it holds little bearing as an actual weapon considering she could just snap her fingers to cast magic instead.

Red Truth - An essential move to have in a battle between a witch and a human, when Beatrice speaks in red, she can only be telling the truth. Lying with the red truth would cause her great physical harm. It is a subjective fact, meaning she does not need proof to support it. However, due to this, there is room for multiple interpretations that humans can abuse. The words appear in the air in red if she is using it.
Blue Truth - Since it’s typically used to counter witches in her games she doesn’t make much use of it, however Blue Truth is used by the witches in a game where mystery is more of the default. Statements said in the Blue Truth must continue to abide by the Red Truth and can be assumed to be true, unless they are directly refuted by the Red Truth, or the Golden Truth. Otherwise, they simply fail to work.
Golden Truth - A truth that is both superior and inferior to the Red Truth. It is a divine truth that can only be used by someone who has the full understanding of the game’s rules. Unlike the Red, it may bypass Knox’s 2nd. She may only use this if she is the acting Game Master or has reached the truth of the board.

She has additional powers at her behest as a witch as well, including:
Teleportation - Beatrice can teleport from different locations in a swoosh of golden butterflies.
Transformation - Beatrice can transform herself into her countless familiars of golden butterflies. She may also transform other objects or even people.
Transmutation/Summoning - Both of these things are due to her Endless Magic and basically appear out of thin air.Beatrice can create objects to appear out of thin air by sheer will, whether it’s candy or ten tons of gold. Also, she can summon other demons or mythological beings to do her bidding for her, since while she does commit murder she rarely dirties her own hands. This may include goat servants, the Seven Stakes of Purgatory, battalion shoulder towers, bees, giant golem guards, etc.
