Illyasviel von Einzbern
EIGHTEEN FEMALE SHE/HER PRESEXUAL HOMUNCULUS DARK |
PERSONALITY [TW FOR: PARENTAL ABANDONMENT, CHILD ABUSE, DEATH] Illyasviel von Einzbern Despite technically being older than she physically appears, Illyasviel has a child-like mentality. Playful and outgoing, cheerful to a fault... Even in situations when a such a demeanor is unsettling. Because, like a child, she lacks a developed sense of empathy, unaffected by the suffering of others so long as it doesn't negatively impact her. In fact she seems to take some enjoyment out of causing harm in others, much like how some children enjoy playfully killing bugs beneath their shoes. This is particularly the case for those who she perceives as having wronged her in some way, possessing an incredible amount of vindictiveness. Of course, Illya's outwardly happy personality is not all there is to her. Feeling abandoned by her father and having never known the friendship of someone her own age, Illya suffers from great loneliness. Since the appearance of Berserker these feelings have lessened, but not fully, though she has grown to be somewhat emotionally dependent on him, keeping him in a state where he cannot possibly abandon her. Her feelings of abandonment are compounded with the hopelessness she feels around her life. She exists for one purpose: To serve as the vessel for the Holy Grail. Regardless of what happens, she has little time to live. At most she has a year before her body dies, but it's much more likely that she will perish when she becomes one with the Grail. She was never meant to be a person, to love, to enjoy, to feel at all, it is merely a byproduct of her creation. This was made clear to her in the time after the Forth Grail War, the Einzbern family pushing her harshly with little regard for her feelings, turning her against her Father and stoking the flames of the darker aspects of her personality. The only time she ever truly felt happy was when she was able to spend time with her mother and father, so she clings onto the childish mindset she had at that time as a way of coping with the cruelties of her life. If she can grasp onto that joy, just a little bit, she can keep on going, for now. And if she enjoys crushing people beneath her feet, she will do it. Its how she has fun, and she lacks the perspective to truly understand why it would be wrong. She was never taught that by the Einzbern family, who dedicated the entirety of her life to studying Magecraft. A true Magus does not need empathy, after all. Why would they bother to teach her that? Berserker/Heracles Berserker cannot truly be said to have a full personality, the bulk of it being sealed away by the effects of Mad Enhancement. He lacks personal motivation, essentially acting as something akin to an attack dog at Illya's beck and call. He does, however, retain the core of his nature... Which manifests as his intense desire to protect Illya, at all costs. He can express rather general thoughts that only Illya can interpret, partly due to their connection as Master and Servant and partly due to their mutual adoration for one another. While Illya views Berserker as a surrogate father, he in turn views her as a surrogate daughter. Because of this he and Illya can 'talk', on some level, despite him not truly being able to speak, or communicate at all aside from generalized feelings. |
The abilities can be split into two parts, Illya's abilities, and Berserker's:
Illyasviel von Einzbern
Illya was trained specifically for the purpose of being a Master in the Holy Grail War, possessing several skills and abilities primarily centering around her Magecraft and nature as the Master of Berserker.
Magic Circuits
Magic Circuits are a "pseudo-nervous system" that defines one's capability as a Magus, one who uses Magecraft, allowing those that possess them a degree of control over magical energy. Illya's body is 70% composed of Magical Circuits, an unusually high number that allows her to be able to handle the overbearing burden that being the Master of a Berserker-class Servant usually places on their Master without issue.
(A more in-depth explanation of Magic Circuits)
Engel Note: Angel's Poem
Through the use of Magecraft, Illya is able to use her hair to create bird-shaped familiars that autonomously defend her and attack her enemies, not requiring direct input from Illya to fight. They are fast, relatively durable for their size (able to block and doge magical attacks), and have two methods of attack.
With Zelle, they fire fast shots of magical energy that can pierce through other magical attacks and strike with force enough to be able to kill a human should they hit a vital area.
With Degen they can transform into large swords and quickly fly in a straight path towards their target, able to break through powerful defenses and liking mortally wounding most people they strike, though in doing so the familiar is destroyed.
Illya can maintain several at the same time (shown to handle at least four without any kind of issue).
General Magecraft
Being a trained Magus, Illya is capable of more general magecraft outside of Engel Note and possess knowledge of the craft.
Healing, for example, is a type of thaumaturgy known to the Einzbern family (in their case primarily used for experimentation), and Illya is capable of using it on some level, though she is far from specialized in it.
Reinforcement, the spell used to increase the physical properties of the user and other items, would also be something she would know, though again not something she specializes in.
Given that her Zelle familiars can also shoot beams of magical energy, Illya likely can use it herself, though she would hardly need to due to her familiars being able to fight for her.
There is likely other types of magecraft Illya is able to use, but the exact nature of her skills are rather vague and not given in detail.
Master of the Grail War
Illya is a Master of the Grail War, particularly the Master of Berserker, giving her a unique connection to him. She is able to communicate and understand him when others can't, and he is completely loyal to her.
Being an incarnation of the Holy Grail itself, her Command Seals are so much stronger than a typical Master's that they are incomparable, situated throughout her entire body. While most Master posses only three, Illya possesses more, and it never stated if there is a limit to the amount of Commands she can give. Illya typically doesn't need them due to Berserker's loyalty to her, but she can use them to increase his physical abilities, and have him teleport to her should they become separated.
Temporary
Illya was not created to last beyond the Grail War. Even though she is taken from it in this situation, she has a year left to live at most. Other than that, despite her tremendous magical ability, she is physically only a child, with all the physical limitations this entails.
Berserker/Heracles
Berserker is the Heroic Spirit of Heracles, a Hero so famous that he can be said to be one of the most powerful Heroic Spirits possible. He is hindered, however, due to being summoned under the Berserker class, locking away many of his abilities and making his combat style much more primitive and direct.
As Heroic Spirit he is something like a familiar tied to Illya, not 'truly' the mythical Heracles so much as a copy (though the difference is mostly semantics). Due to this he can choose whether to act in his Material Form or Spiritual Form. In his Spiritual Form he is almost impossible to detect, lacking any physical presence whatsoever, able to pass through walls and move around as he pleases. However he is limited to only his spiritual senses (primarily his connection to Illya) and is unable to effect the physical world, and thus is only truly useful in his Material Form.
Though it isn't a Noble Phantasm, like most weapons Servants possess, Heracles uses a Nameless Axe-Sword (AKA, Mumei Onoken) made of rock as his main weapon. It is largely impractical, only really capable of being a weapon due to its tremendous size and Heracles' overwhelming strength.
Parameters
Parameters are the rating of Berserker's more general capabilities, both physical and mystical. Due to the nature of his legend and high fame Berserker possesses high-ranked parameters all round, making him a physical powerhouse that few other Servants can match.
Strength: A+
Endurance: A
Agility: A
Mana: A
Luck: B
Noble Phantasm: A
Noble Phantasm
God Hand: Twelve Labors
Essentially, God Hand is the manifestation of Berserker's legendary immortality and endurance. It negates all but the most powerful attacks (B-rank or lower, in Fate/ context) entirely, causing them to bounce of him harmlessly, whether they be physical or magical in nature. Even further, it grants him automatic regeneration from injuries, even resurrecting him from death up to twelve times (representing the Twelve Labors Heracles went through in his myth). Every time he is harmed by an attack, regardless of whether or not it kills him, he gains greatly increased resistance to it after he has healed, though sufficiently more powerful attacks of the same type would still be able to effect him.
Being a conceptual ability based on his legend he can theoretically survive any attack not considered 'A-Rank' or above under specific rules, including attacks that would theoretically destroy things much more durable than Heracles... While also being injured by attacks that would be unable to do nearly as much damage. This is both a boon and a weakness, as it allows those who might otherwise be considered too 'weak' to harm him under typical rules be able to hurt him if their abilities are considered of the highest caliber by the rules they work under.
(For example: A B-rank Magecraft fire spell working under Fate/ rules would do nothing to Berserker as it is not high enough rank, while a high ranking Persona skill that does fire damage [say, Agidyne] that under most instances would be considered 'weaker' would be able to harm him.)
(A Canon Explanation)
Skills
Divinity: A
Due to being the son of Zeus and a human, and ascending to Godhood after death, Berserker has a high rank of 'Divinity'. This doesn't necessarily have an effect on all times, only really having an impact (for good or worse) depending on external influence. For example, abilities that deal more damage against Gods would deal higher damage against Berserker, while things known not to have effect against those of Divine nature wouldn't work against him.
Mad Enhancement: B
A skill inherent to Heroic Spirits of the Berserker class, it provides an increase in physical parameters in exchange for hindering the mental capabilities of the Servant. Heracle's possesses a relatively high rank despite being better suited for other classes due to being known for going into a blind rage many times in his myth, making it a skill he was well suited for. It is the primary cause of his parameters being as high as they are, as they would already be considerable without the aid of Mad Enhancement.
Eye of the Mind (False): B
An innate ability to perceive adapt to danger, like an instinct for combat that has become honed over experience. He can calmly analyze battle conditions even in difficult conditions, understand his own state and the state of his opponent like a supernatural sense. While Mad Enhancement weakens most mental skills, the fact that this skill is more instinct that true mental ability allows him to keep it and remain a skilled fighter even with most of his mental capabilities locked away.
Battle Continuation: A
Representing Berserker's ability to continue fighting despite being tremendous injury. At this level, it allows him to keep going even after having received mortal injuries that would leave most unable to stand. To get him to stop would take a decisive mortal injury, anything less would leave him able to fight at full strength.
Limits
Due to Mad Enhancement, Berserker's full capabilities are limited, including having an entire Noble Phantasm locked away from him due to being based on his skill, and the Bravery skill that allows him to overcome mental interference... As well as causing him to lack the tactical ability he would have at his best.
Furthermore, given that he is tied to Illya, should she be in a position of danger her must devote energy to defending her, both because he needs her to materialize and his own desire to protect her.
